Lakeside Cottage

There are plenty of activity and leisure options! All of them can be enjoyed against the dramatic natural backdrops around. But also those who are not so eager to engage in the many active and passive pursuits available will enjoy the peace and tranquility, the flora & fauna and the ever changing Irish skies.
Our boat
Fishing
The fishing lake is in the back of the house, you have free use of our boat. Pike and rudd are common - and our lake holds the Irish tench record! We've put a BBQ and a picnic table right beside the pier - so enjoy your fresh catch rightaway.
Burren Flowers
Walking, Cycling
Another great way to take in this landscape is by walking, hiking and cycling at your leisure! Quiet country roads in and around the Burren invite for cycle tours. Way marked walking trails are established in the area and around the lakes. The more serious walkers will find a number of hiking possibilities all around the Burren. Mullaghmore mountain - the sublimely beautiful heart of The Burren - is only a couple of minutes from the house. Geological evolution over millions of years has arranged this landscape in such a way that today it is recognized as one of the most distinctive landscapes in Europe. The region is of outstanding significance also in terms of wildflowers - Arctic/Alpine/Mediterranean flowers are growing side by side. The area also hosts 70 wedge-tombs (the most famous of them being Poulnabrone), ring forts, caves (most notable Aillwee Cave), castles (Leamenagh & Dysert O┬┤Dea Castle) and a network of field walls and hut circles.
Find an overview of the Mullaghmore walking trails here, or download a map here. The green roads in The Burren region are also the perfect way to explore the area and its hidden secrets on foot!
Playground
Children
will find holidays on our farm most exciting and will never get bored! They will enjoy the animals on our working farm: sheep, cows, greyhounds... The lawn behind the cottage can be used for all kinds of outdoor games - a swing and a slide are there for use by the smaller children. The farm is far away from any major road - so there is no traffic danger for your children.
